Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is an examination using a 1.2 cm diameter colonscope, passing through the anus to reach the rectum and colon, to view the inside of the whole colon. If any abnormality is seen, e.g. polyps or tumors, removal of polyp or biopsy will be performed. When you experience change of bowel habits, unexplained abdominal distension and pain, hematochezia, emaciation or anemia, positive result in fecal occult blood test, etc, you are advised to consult a doctor for Colonoscopy examination. In addition, according to the international guidelines, regular screening is also recommended for high-risk groups including persons over 50, or 40 with strong family history.
