UH History

The government of Macau values the development of traditional Chinese medicine and the application of traditional Chinese medicines. With the approval of the government of Macau, the Faculty of Chinese Medicines of MUST was established in 2000. In 2003, in order to meet the increasing medical needs from the local population, MUST established a Chinese Medicine Walk-in Clinic with the approval of the Health Bureau of Macau. This clinic also provided a great opportunity of clinical practice for MUST medical students and staff. Through four years of the hard work of our staff, the Chinese Medicine Walk-in Clinic has gradually grown into today's University Hospital. In the early days, the Chinese Medicine Walk-in Clinic was located in the KingWu Hospital in Macau, later moved to Block C of MUST. In July of 2006, the Chinese Medicine Walk-in Clinic was transferred to our new hospital building, Block H, occupying four floors.

On March 25 th , 2006, the UH was officially established under the MUST Foundation with support from the government of Macau and the approval from the Health Bureau. UH not only preserves the traditional Chinese medicine characteristics, but also imports the key elements of Western medical practice. On August 16 th , 2007, the In-patient Department was added to the UH with capacity of fifty seven in-patients at a time. Combining both Western and Chinese medical services, UH has become one of the most advanced hospitals in the region. We believe that UH staff will do the best to achieve our goal: A Healthy World awaits you……
